Following a private agreement with Rosden Park, Barood will commence the next chapter of his stud career at Empress Park Stud, where he will stand at the advertised service fee of $3,300. From the first time we saw Barood, we believed he was a stallion with tremendous untapped potential. When the opportunity arose to purchase him, it was one we simply couldn't pass up. A beautifully bred son of Choisir, Barood is a full brother to Champion European Sprinter and internationally successful sire Starspangledbanner. He combines an exceptional pedigree with outstanding conformation, athleticism and temperament qualities we believe are being reflected in his progeny. Although only a small number of his offspring have reached the racetrack, we have been encouraged by everything we've seen so far. We believe Barood has all the attributes to develop into a sire of genuine significance, and we are excited to play a role in that journey. Shepherd's Field thoroughbreds present Pellizoti son of Stratum out of the Blevic sired top local mare Red Labelle. Bred by the renowned Kambula stud, Pellizotti lays claim to being the highest priced yearling from Stratums’ first crop, purchased by Lee Freedman for $425,000 in 2009. His stakes winning dam Red Labelle was sold for $1m as a brood mare producing only 2 foals, stakes winners Strawberry Field (Encosta De Lago) and Pellizotti, before her untimely death. Strawberry Field carries on the winning dam line through Aunt Mimi (dam of G3 South Australian Fillies Classic winner Mimi’s Award) and Meadow, Meadow being the dam of stakes winner Jenni’s Meadow and the handy mare Flower In The Wind. Pellizotti showed great promise as a young colt winning two of his five two-year-old starts including the Dalrello Plate and was set for the 2010 Blue Diamond before injury curtailed his two-year-old career. To date Pellizotti has produced 21 winners from 38 runners for a collective earnings of $1,302,050 prize money and include Big Sue (damsire Artie Schiller (USA)), Young Jimmy (ds Princely Heir (IRE)), Debseraa, (ds Distant Music (USA)), Mighty Mabel (ds Distant Music (USA)), Orsetto (ds Magnus (AUS)), Schoona the Better (ds Husson (ARG)), Trotsie (ds Danerich (AUS)) and Haralben (ds Strategic (AUS)). Akeed Mofeed (foaled 14 February 2009) is a Thoroughbred racehorse trained in Ireland by John Oxx and arrived in Hong Kong in 2012. In Hong Kong he was trained by Richard Gibson. He is notable for winning the BMW Hong Kong Derby 2013 and the Longines Hong Kong Cup 2013. Born on 14 February 2009 in England, Akeed Mofeed is sired by Dubawi, a three-time Group 1 winner whose renowned offspring include Dubai World Cup winner Monterosso and Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Sprint winner Lucky Nine. Before arriving in Hong Kong, Akeed Mofeed finished 4th in the Irish Derby 2012 and thereafter won a listed race, the Platinum Stakes. With great expectations from the media, Akeed Mofeed opened its account by winning an 1800m Class 2 race in early March 2013 and subsequently sealed its status as the best local 4-year-old of the year by capturing victory in the BMW Hong Kong Derby 2013. Akeed Mofeed is also the 1st runner-up of the G2 LONGINES Jockey Club Cup (2000m) at Sha Tin racecourse on Sunday, 17 November, losing only by a diminishing head to Endowing, the champion. On 8 December 2013, Akeed Mofeed was crowned champion of G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Cup.
